La Thuile is the last Italian village on the road to the Petit St Bernard Pass, a historic pass between Italy and France.
At the pass (2188 m), you will find the historic hospice, where people who wanted to cross the border and were surprised by bad weather and scientists who went up there to meet the abbot, rector of the hospice, were welcomed.
On the French side, you can visit the Chanousia Alpine Botanical Garden, which contains a valuable collection of plants.
Hiking enthusiasts can go to admire the Rutor waterfalls and reach the foot of the glacier in a few hours, or hike in the Arpy valley to admire the lake of the same name and the other bodies of water that dot the mountains around La Thuile.
By booking at the village consortium, you can visit the mountain pastures and taste local products.
In recent years, La Thuile has become a favourite destination for two-wheel enthusiasts: the trails winding along the mountains offer adrenaline and fun for all tastes and ages: mountain biking, enduro and downhill.
In summer, it is also possible to go rafting! Right from the Dora di La Thuile you can go down in a rubber dinghy, enjoying yourself and admiring beautiful landscapes.
But there's more than just La Thuile: the 'Da Clara' flats are an excellent starting point to spend a few days in the surrounding villages: just 15 minutes away by car, the Pré Saint Didier Spa awaits you for a day of relaxation and wellness. A few more minutes and you will reach Courmayeur, from where the famous Skyway, the futuristic cable car that will take you up Mont Blanc, starts.
From the end of November to the end of April, La Thuile offers a wide choice of pistes of all difficulties, from easy ones for beginners to difficult ones for experts: the "3 Franco Berthod" World Cup black slope is a challenge and an unforgettable experience for skiers seeking thrill and adrenaline.
The slopes (150 km and 35 lifts) are perfectly groomed throughout the season.
With the same ski pass, it is possible to ski to the resort of La Rosière in France.
In addition to alpine skiing, it is possible to practice snowboarding, Nordic skiing, heli-skiing or simply enjoy the tranquillity of a walk in the woods with a pair of snowshoes.
For children, a snow playground, a kids' club and a games room are set up every year at the arrival of the lifts.
